National Office Furniture, Specified on Merit

Casegoods, private office and lounge. How Commercial Office Interiors (COI) uses National on open-line projects across New Hampshire and Greater Boston, and which brands it is bid against on the same brief.

What National Makes

National makes the casegoods that fill most private offices in New England: desks, returns, credenzas, wall-mounted storage and the matching conference table. The Epic, WaveWorks and Arrowood lines cover a laminate-first standard, a veneer standard and a residential-feeling office, and all three come out of the same Indiana plants, so one project can mix them and still read as one building.

The reason National is on almost every COI private-office bid is repeatability. A company standardizing across three sites needs the same desk, the same finish and the same drawer pull to be available in year three, and National keeps its core programs in production for a long time. On an open-line bid COI will put National beside Kimball, Groupe Lacasse and OFS on the same office typical, and National is often the price-to-finish answer.

National also runs a quick-ship program on its most common desk and storage configurations, which is how COI fills the private-office gap on a project whose systems furniture is quoted at 12 weeks. The office gets a desk on move-in day, not a folding table.

Lounge and ancillary pieces, including the Fringe family, round out the line, and National's guest seating is a frequent pick for an office that needs two visitor chairs in every room at a defensible price. COI still bids the task chair across brands rather than defaulting to the casegoods supplier.

Why National Is Priced Beside the Field

COI carries the project, not one manufacturer. Every workstation, private-office and task-chair typical goes to several brands and comes back on one proposal with prices, lead times, warranties and finishes side by side. Across five New England projects in 2026 the gap between a single-brand bid and the COI open-line bid on the same scope averaged 32 percent.

About Brands and Authorization

Is COI an authorized dealer for these brands?

COI is an open-line dealer and specifies from 100+ manufacturers. Authorization, territory, warranty routing and the quotation path are confirmed in writing for the exact brand and product on each project, and nothing on these pages should be read as a standing authorization claim for a given line. COI is the Artopex dealer for New Hampshire and one of 10 RESEAT dealers in the U.S.

How does COI choose between brands on a project?

By bidding the same specification across several of them. A workstation typical, a private-office typical and a task-chair standard each go out to three or more manufacturers, and the proposal shows the prices, lead times, warranties and finishes side by side. The brief decides, not a dealer contract.

Can COI mix brands in one office?

Yes, and most COI projects do. A typical floor pairs one manufacturer for workstations, another for private offices, a third for task seating and a fourth for the lounge, each chosen on merit for that room type. COI coordinates the finish palette, the schedule and the installation so the floor reads as one project.

Do you carry Steelcase, MillerKnoll or Haworth?

Those brands sell through contracted major-line dealers, so COI does not carry them. When a client has a quote from one of them, COI prices an equivalent open-line specification against it line by line. Across five New England projects in 2026 the average gap was 32 percent on the same scope.
